Apteramotors, out of Carlsbad, California has a new hybrid electric car coming off the assembly line in 2008, called the Aptera.
With plans to launch an all-gas model in '09, capable of over 300 miles-per-gallon, this Tesla-like technological achievement is raising some eyebrows.
It wouldn't be surprising if it also raises the ire of the petrochemical complex and the war-for-oil-profiteers, if it hasn't already.
Here's a video of what the future might hold in store, in a surprising look at this Jetsons-style new marvel...
This fuselage-shaped car of the future looks comfortably spacious inside, even if this three-wheeled wonder only seats two for now (as to trunk -- or boot, for our British Isles readers -- space, your guess is as good as ours).
Is this era apt enough for such breakthrough technology?
Or will the smog-in-a-tank guys and gals succeed in squelching it before the Aptera really gets up to speed and gets "off the ground" (metaphorically speaking)?...
Time alone will tell, but if the past is any key to glimpsing what the future truly holds in store, don't set your hopes too high.
And the next time you hear the word APT, perhaps you'll consider the fact that not all that's apt is meant for those whose tastes and mores are on a par with all that is much less than apt!
